Prong - Cleansing (1994)

The fifth Prong record is there most commercial and probably ultimately there most memorable one. A average metal fan should know of the heavy driven massive sound from Cleansing either if it's there most popular single "Snap Your Fingers Snap Your Neck" or "Whose Fist is This Anyway?". This was Paul Raven and John Bechdel's first Prong album after they had just left Killing Joke. It's easily there best produced album, the riffs are thick and just as lethal as you'll hear. I always say there one of the most underrated bands along with Faith No More, I don't feel they get the credit they deserve. Tommy Victor did great work wherever he went whether it was his time being frontman in Prong, playing guitar in Danzig and Ministry as well. This is probably close to as good as Beg to Differ, there in the same ballpark. I have fond memories of listening to Prong on my iPod for instance on the way to my first Metallica concert back in 2005, all I listened to on the three hour trip was Prong. Prong - Rude Awakening (1996)

The sixth Prong album is where I kind of get confused. They sounded more industrial and electronic with Rude Awakening. They still have crunchy riffs but this one is odd for me compared to the earlier ones which I cherish. I always struggled to identify this record and maybe at this time the musical differences within the band were changing because I thought they sounded just fine with there alternative groove metal sounding vibe. If you're a fan of industrial you'll without a doubt think it's genius. This was there last studio record they would come out with till almost a decade later with Scorpio Rising in 2004 which I thought it was a lot better than the reviews I read about online. It's widely known that this album did not sell which led to the demise of them for a couple years with Tommy Victor playing in Danzig and Ted Parsons and Paul Raven played for Godflesh after Prong. I really wanted to see them live when they came by the bay area opening up for Fear Factory but, no one wanted to go. Hopefully they'll write another album and come back!! Prong - Prove You Wrong (1991)

This was Prong's fourth album and is the only album with Troy Gregory who was a top choice in the many bassists that auditioned to get recruited into Metallica after Cliff Burton died in 1986 formally from Flotsam and Jetsam. At this time, Prong landed on Epic Records and they cleaned there sound up with Beg to Differ and then Prove you Wrong. I always thought they kind of sounded like hardcore punk back in the eighties which totally makes sense since the members Tommy Victor and Ted Parsons of Prong both worked at CBGB. They moved into the groove metal genre and later on got more industrial with the later releases. The thing is that you have to remember you can't get this confused that this album isn't the fastest one they've ever done but, it's the most experimental so it can go either way because I think the casual fan would dig Cleansing obviously that's the hits record or the speed album Beg to Differ which it's not even clear to me what's my favorite to this day since I started listening to them in 2004.
